Who We Are
In 2001, Theresa Goode founded GOODWorks, Inc. (GW’s), a women’s support program that provides a gender specific mentoring and counseling that offers hope, healing, and a sense of belonging to diverse groups of women who are incarcerated, paroled or otherwise in transition. Since its inception, GW has provided hundreds of women with the counseling, advocacy and referral services they so desperately need which has empowered them to believe in themselves; and make positive, life-changing decisions that foster continuous personal growth and create safe environments for themselves and their children.
As the Executive Director, Theresa is primarily responsible for leading GW’s strategic plan, advancing the organization’s volunteer core and Board of Directors, raising funds, and providing organizational oversight. Theresa holds a B.S. in Human Services from Springfield College, a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College, and is also the recipient of Intentional Peer Support, Peer Support and Respite Certifications. She was honored at the 2010 Women’s Ministries Atlantic Union Conference; received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2013 from the Faith Behind Bars and Beyond Connecticut Prison Ministry and the Soroptimist Making a Difference for Women Award in 2008.
Highly recognized for her collaborative leadership qualities in achieving strategic objectives among GW’s many partner organizations, Theresa currently sits on the Board of Directors of Focus on Recovery United, Inc. and a team member of the Reach, Training Healthy Children Initiative.
