About GOODWorks, Inc.

Our Commitment

GOODWorks is committed to empowering women in recovery from the criminal justice system to make positive behavioral, lifestyle changes that foster personal growth and create a safe environment for themselves and their children.  Each week, our founder, Theresa Goode travels to York Correctional Institute in Niantic, Connecticut where she focuses her time on helping incarcerated women.  The women, who range from 18 - 25 years old, work with Theresa one-on-one or in mentoring groups to think positively, create self-worth, and envision a better life after prison.

*Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic York Correctional Institution has stopped allowing visitors and external personnel to enter the prison. Theresa hopes to return to counseling at York as soon as safe to do so.*

Summer Internship Program

In the summer of 2018, GOODWorks partnered with the University of Connecticut (CLAS Department) and Greater Hartford Community College to work with three interns. As a Health Disparities Clinical Summer Research Fellow, Perpetual T. collected data and statistics concerning GOODWorks' retention rates and program effectiveness.

Mabintou (left) is an international student. As a member of Leadership Greater Hartford's Leading Off-Campus Program, Mabintou was selected to join GOODWorks in order to supplement her aspirations to return to Gambia and establish a center providing support for women and girls.

Daniella, a student at the University of Connecticut is an administrative assistant with GOODWorks interested in pursuing a career as a human rights lawyer. GOODWorks prides itself on providing these student interns with real-world experience pertaining to the criminal justice system as it applies to women; we feel that there is always more to learn!
